CHATHAM, NJ, JUNE 4, 2006 — Baby boomers who are selling family homes in preparation for the next stage of their lives are increasingly looking for condominiums in urban villages that offer culture and restaurants right at hand as well as easy access via public transportation to Manhattan.

Pinnacle Downtown, a division of the Chatham-based developer, Pinnacle Companies, is seeking to meet the demand for such housing with its new luxury condominium development, The Siena at Montclair, which is located in the heart of Montclair on the site of the former Hahnes department store at South Park and Church Streets.

In addition to the convenience of condominium living, Pinnacle buyers will have the advantage of being located at the center of Montclair’s hip, thriving downtown, as well as having easy train access via NJ Transit’s Midtown Direct service to Penn Station or bus transportation to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan.

“You can have a suburban life and an urban life all in one,” said Mary Boorman, Pinnacle Companies’ senior vice president of marketing and strategic planning. “It’s a perfect mixture: not too much noise and congestion, but with enough people to create a feeling of energy and vibrancy.”

In addition, the Siena is designed to appeal to young families and professionals working in Manhattan or in New Jersey’s corporate centers, she said.

The Siena will feature 101 condo units, including one-, two- and three-bedroom homes. Many of the homes will also have a den, and for former suburbanites who are accustomed to a lot of space or for buyers with several children Pinnacle is offering the option of converting two units into one larger unit.

The seven-floor luxury building will also feature 40,000 square feet of ground-level retail space, which will include a New York Sports Club.

Prices for the units, which range in size from 640 to 2,800 square feet, start at $349,000 and go up to $1.3 million. All of the units will include standard features such as hardwood floors, granite countertops, European cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and stone bathroom floors that are usually considered upgrades.

The building’s steel framework is now going up, with the completion scheduled for early summer of 2007.

Only 12 miles from downtown Manhattan, the township of Montclair, located at the base of First Watchung Mountain, is unique in the state for its focus on the arts, a legacy of its history as a nineteenth century artists’ colony.

Its well-known art museum, numerous performing arts groups, unusual galleries and boutiques, plentiful bookstores, jazz and comedy clubs and restaurants of every description — as well as a population of residents with strong ties to the arts — have made Montclair a mecca for those seeking urban sophistication in a suburban setting.

The Siena sales office is located at The Georgian Inn, Unit M-2 at 37 North Mountain Ave. in Montclair. The sales office showcases the beautiful bathrooms and kitchens and is open from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. Mondays through Fridays, and from 11a. m. to 5 p. m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Virtual video tours of the new development are available.
